Grammer Post: Colon

Colons are used to signal the reader that a series of words, phrases, or clauses that follows a complete sentence. A colon is used to introduce a list. I sometimes use the colon for the wrong purpose, but here showed me the correct way. Here is an example:

Correct: Jill has many skills: running, jumping, fighting, and sewing.

Incorrect: Jill's skills include: running, jumping, fighting, and sewing.
