Grammer Post: Apostrophes

The only problem I have with apostrophes is that if I should put one before or after the word that already has an "s" in it. This site here tells me what to do. I put the apostrophe before the "s" when it is singular and after the "s" when it's a plural.

The monkey's banana - Singular

The friends' houses - Plural

Complications Part 1

I find this book very interesting, it reveals the hidden world of surgeons. Even though I didn't understand all the medical terminology, it's still interesting to read as he tell the story. I didn't expect that there were risk involved by having surgery. Something to think about is the newly surgeons that perform on patients for the first time. There's something to think about about. This makes me think twice of having surgery. I'm glad that they have M & M to share their mistakes and stuff, so that they won't make the same mistakes. After reading this, I don't want to have surgery. So I'm going to avoid it.

Grammer Post: Colon

Colons are used to signal the reader that a series of words, phrases, or clauses that follows a complete sentence. A colon is used to introduce a list. I sometimes use the colon for the wrong purpose, but here showed me the correct way. Here is an example:

Correct: Jill has many skills: running, jumping, fighting, and sewing.

Incorrect: Jill's skills include: running, jumping, fighting, and sewing.

Grammer Post: Nor and Or

Using nor and or gets me confused. I don't know which one to use. Doesn't it mean the same thing? Then I looked here and found an answer. Apparently nor always comes after neither and or after either. That makes sense because nor and neither starts with N. Here are two examples:

You either get $100 or a slap in the face.

I neither want the $100 nor the slap in the face.

Mini Essay From The Art Gallery

The Cardinal by Alexander Selytin is amazing because of its realism, texture, and color value.

His painting is realistic, it looks like a photograph when you stand far back. He must have spent a lot of time observing the cardinal and the nest. Then more time painting them. This is what separates this paint from the others.

The bird and nest has great textures. That's why it makes the painting so realistic. The red cardinal it self has textures that a real cardinal would have. It has a feathery like texture to it. The branches in the nest had a rough branchy texture like real branches. With all those textures, no wonder it looks so real.

Color value plays huge role, that's what makes the paint realistic. Different shades of color makes the painting interesting and make it look real. The cardinal's red feathers aren't just one color, it's multiple shade of red. Same goes for the nest.

Research Review

"Does the screen last very long since people are constantly touching them?"

The iPod Touch's screen is made of Arsenic-free glass, so it's environmentally friendly. The screen is very durable. I have one and I've been dropping mine a lot and so far the screen is working fine.
