Keeping a blog requires you to risk yourself in language because anyone can read it. You are vulnerable to everyone on the Internet. Anyone can tell how you feel and take advantage of you.
I think blogging and other on-line forms of communication became popular is that people can put up anything they want. They also receive other people's opinions. Some opinions are helpful and some are not. So they have to deal with it.
